I'll be a regular on your site….things are truly coming a long…..that recent plant “count” is intense…so much food!! Thanks so much for checking out our blog! We both watched your most recent vids two times in a row and they're definitely helping us to visualize our humble projects in a more advanced and developed state! Major thanks for all the enthusiasm you project, friend, its sooo contagious. Things are developing pretty fast here in our mountainside garden, so we'll be documenting as much as we can in the coming months. Been spreading the clover seeds EVERYWHERE for groundcover and we're gearing up to transplant some plantain and comfrey we started to their new home under the fruit trees. Going to arrange some guilds straight out of Gaia's Garden, with nasturtium, rosemary, daffodils etc. HA! Loving our paw paw trio, so cool that you've adopted some too! how are they coming along? seem to be growing pretty fast so far… anyway, its great to be in touch with you and we can't wait for your future posts!

How large is your dome? I have one that is 16' that I have not yet set up – do not know if it will be too big for the space in the yard. Knowing how big yours is can help me guess what mine would look like.

You can let the kale produce seeds. It is very prolific. You will have all the seeds yo need for a long time.

All brassicas can cross, so you will get hybrids. Some are amazing. It might be wise to save seed. If Monsanto proceeds with its plan to GMO cauliflower, the gmo genes could get into other brassicas. You might want to have your own stash of seeds.

Hi Pamela…thanks!! Right on!!! You're going to have some good fun in that dome!!! Ours is 18ft….and as you can see… just barely fit in the space…but it works. I'd LOVE…to see your dome and garden…when you have it set up, I hope it fits!! Love these things…getting ready to put a shade cloth over the dome, as temps are quickly rising now, here in S. Utah.

I love the idea on letting them create some crazy cool…hybrids…of course, as long as, Uncle MONTY, isn't anywhere nearby, to mess up the genes. The chards in the dome, right now, are all heirlooms…and are all flowering….it crazy!!! The flowers are about 9 ft tall right now…I need to take picture…it's crazy, cool swiss chard, hybrid TIME!!!

There's about 5 different strains flowering, so this should be interesting…the aroma..is very pungent!!

Very cool to be in touch with you guys too!! Cheers to spreading clover EVERYWHERE!! hahaha…between that, the comfrey, sea buckthorn and goumis….I'd say this yard will soon be Nitrogen FIXEDDDDD!! I think I'm ..getting taller..!

The paw paws are still kickin it in the dome. I'm preparing their sites, the weather has been a bit weird, but it's very warm now, so I'll be planting them this week. Transplanted them to larger pots, splashed em with a BUNCH of rock dust, and they're leafing out pretty good now. Glad to hear yours are growing fast…kinda weird it's the fruit nobody ever hears of or ate…at least around.. here. Just curious, what strains you guys are growing?? I was amazed at how many there were. I'm growing “Wilson” and “NC-1″

Forgive us for making your comments spot a million miles long! Funny about the enigmatic and elusive paw-paw, right?! I've personally never eaten one and we're both stoked that the first time we get to eat them will likely be from our own trees! Our three came from a local nursery and are seedlings collected from native strands, as they grow wild in some areas here in VA. Are yours from One Green World? They have an amazing selection. Ours come from http://ediblelandscaping.com/plants.php which is driving distance from us and has some great stuff (tons of hardy kiwis, persimmon, and fig varieties, etc)- the only downfall is that they don't carry much in the way of nitrogen fixing shrubs, which we're currently seeking out… Stoked you've got your seabuckthorn and goumis to lend a hand!
Out of curiosity, what kind of rock dust are you using? We haven't tried any out yet but would love a recommendation if you could!

hahaha…take up all the comment space you like!!! Loved your recent post on your PA adventure!! Right on…wild/native paw paw strains…eaten for the first time from you own trees!! Doesn't get any better than that!! My first paw paw will come off my trees too…it's gonna be a good day.

Thanks for the link…can always use more good resources…would love to have a nursery like that near here…nobody's growing that stuff around here. It's coming though!! We need more permaculture plants…round these parts!!!!

On the rock dust…I'm a complete addict.

My name is Jake, and I'm a rock dust addict.

Using Azomite for sure!! Most of the local nurseries are now carrying it here, pleaded with a few of them, it saves shipping for me…and spreads the rock dust love to local gardeners. I'm also using Gaia's Glacial Dust, and Greensand. Whatta combo..these little dusts provide!! Just scooped some soft rock phosphate as well…it becoming a fun hobby to collect dusts!!

I'm also using crushed volcanic cinders, which are mined, nearby here. I can scoop a truck load of it..for 5 dollars. Been hunting around the local rock pits too, seeking out their leftovers. All of these dusts, are different size, with slightly different mineral contents. So I just make throw a combo of all of them in each hole I'm digging. Whether the combo boosts soil health or not…it's just fun playing with all the dusts…and feels intuitively right!!! I”m sure you guys have read “Secrets of the Soil” by Tompkins and Bird, my goodness, those chapters on rock dust are powerful!!!

The worms go absolutely NUTS…over the Azomite. If I had to choose ONE rock dust..it would be the Azomite..for sure!! It's mined just north of here…and it's SOOOOOO powdery…almost silky…like graphite.
